You know Catania is serious about nightlife when an event says “music conference” and half the city hears, “So… aperitivo?”

Fair enough.

From 15–16 May 2026, the Sicily Music Conference rolls into Catania for its 5th edition, bringing with it showcases, parties, side events, networking nights, and — thank heavens — drinks and snacks that do not require you to pretend you understand the music business.

The main conference talks are happening in Palermo from 13–16 May, but Catania gets its own slice of the action with evening events, showcases, and social gatherings expected around Via Etnea, the centro storico, and local clubs and bars.

Translation: the city is about to get louder, tastier, and slightly more dangerous for anyone who says, “I’ll just have one drink.”

This is not only for DJs, producers, managers, and people who say things like “the scene” with a straight face.

It is also a fun chance for locals, expats, and visitors to dip into Catania’s creative nightlife without needing a backstage pass or mysterious black clothing.

The best part? Many core activities are promoted as ingresso libero, meaning free entry for lots of the conference events. Of course, your cocktail is not free, because sadly we do still live on Earth.

But participating bars are expected to offer aperitivo and late-night deals, likely around €8–€15 for cocktails with small plates, food boards, or street-food-style snacks.

Not a bad deal for an evening that could start with a spritz and end with you discovering a new artist at midnight while holding a tiny arancino like it contains the secrets of life.

Expect a mix of music people, curious locals, stylish night owls, and that one friend who suddenly becomes an expert in electronic music after two negronis.

So, should you go?

Yes — especially if you like music, food, people-watching, and having a reason to wander into Catania after dark with a little purpose.

Grab a friend. Start with aperitivo. Follow the sound.

Worst case? You have a drink and a snack.

Best case? You find your new favorite night in Catania.
