Something colorful is about to take over Catania.

For a few days, the city will feel like another universe.
Expect costumes, characters, stories, and serious fan energy.

It’s one of those events people talk about long before it starts.
Whether you’re a comic lover or just curious, this one is hard to ignore.

Here’s why Etna Comics is worth putting on your calendar.

Something big is quietly moving in Catania.

It’s not glamorous, but it could affect thousands of people.
A forgotten part of the city may finally be getting attention.
The numbers are serious, and the timing is interesting.

If this actually happens, daily life could change more than people expect.

Here’s why this update is worth watching.

Spring in Sicily brings a special charm, and this Sunday, 24 May, Aci Trezza invites everyone to savor it slowly.

The Festa di Primavera is a free seaside celebration near Catania, welcoming locals and visitors alike.

Aci Trezza’s magic shines with its picturesque fishing boats, salty sea breeze, lava rocks, cozy cafés, and the legendary Faraglioni rising from the water.

No need for grand plans or special preparations.

Just show up, bring loved ones or come solo, stroll along the waterfront, enjoy a granita, and soak up the authentic Sicilian atmosphere.

These moments remind us of the simple beauty at our doorstep — no big trips or expensive outings required.

If you’re near Catania this weekend, Aci Trezza offers a perfect, easygoing escape by the sea.

The Nivarata Festival returns to Acireale’s historic center from May 22 to 24, 2026, igniting the city with the vibrant spirit of Sicilian granita.

Locals and visitors gather to savor traditional and innovative frozen treats, celebrating the legacy of the nivaroli, who once preserved mountain snow for summer refreshment.

This cherished practice has evolved into granita’s status as a true symbol of Sicilian culture.

Master gelato makers from across Italy showcase their creativity, offering demonstrations, tastings, and exclusive recipes featuring fresh, local ingredients.

The prestigious Don Angelino Award honors outstanding achievements in granita artistry, fueling friendly competition and inventive flavors.

This year, the festival shines a spotlight on the Etna IGP Lemon, enriching the connection to Sicily’s authentic terroir.

With events centered around Piazza Duomo’s baroque beauty, Nivarata promises a sweet immersion into Sicilian tradition and community spirit.

This is not just another beer festival.

This is four days of craft brewing culture, Sicilian street food, live music, and some seriously smart collaborations with the University of Catania and Unionbirrai — the Italian brewers association.

Remember when being into anime, comics, and cosplay made you the weird kid?

Yeah, those days are LONG gone.

Now Catania is about to become the coolest place in Italy — and it's all happening at Etna Comics 2026.

I stumbled upon something last week that made me stop and rethink everything about Catania this May.

A historic garden.

80+ craft breweries.

And that's just the beginning.

Because days later, 45,000 square meters of pop culture madness takes over the city.

Here's what I discovered about what's really coming...

Catania’s food scene is doing that sneaky little thing again… opening places you suddenly need to try before everyone else finds them.

From cozy stone cantinas and late-night pinze to seafood cocktails by the harbour and one under-the-radar cocktail spot with serious “remember this name” energy, these five restaurants are worth a closer look.

I’m about to tell you something most people never figure out… even after they’ve been to Catania.

They line up.
They wait.
They snap the same church photos as everyone else…

Meanwhile?

The real magic is hiding in plain sight.

And almost nobody sees it.

I’m talking about the street art.

Then Mount Etna erupted. Lava flowed through the streets. The city was destroyed twice in one year.

But when the dust settled and the ash cooled, one building was still standing.

Castello Ursino.

This week, I stepped into my regular coffee bar, expecting nothing more than a quiet cup.

Instead, I witnessed its final moments after 32 remarkable years in the neighborhood.

The bar felt nearly empty—shelves bare, echoes replacing familiar chatter.

The owner, a kind and familiar face, was locking up for the last time.

I once asked him about filming a video there; he gently declined, explaining the closure was close.

That small moment lingered with me.

Before he turned the key, I asked for a photo—a simple farewell, marking the end of countless mornings and conversations shared in those walls.

Cities change quietly, one small spot at a time.

For anyone who ever sipped a coffee there, this goodbye is for you.
