❤️ Sant’Agata — The Heart of the City

If you’re in Catania around early February, everything revolves around Sant’Agata. Streets fill up, emotions run high, and the city moves as one.

🕯️ Offerta della Cera (Wax Offering Procession)

What: Huge candles carried through the city to honor Sant’Agata
Where: From Sant’Agata alla Fornace → Piazza Duomo
When: February 3, around midday

Why go: This is the real kickoff. Giant candles, historic carriages, loud crowds, and pure Catania chaos. You’ll feel the energy instantly.

🌅 Processione del 4 Febbraio (The Big One)

What: Dawn mass followed by the relics moving through the city
Where: Piazza Duomo → Porta Uzeda → Stesicoro → Fortino
When: February 4, mass at 6:00 AM, procession all day

Why go: Locals show up before sunrise. Chants echo through the streets. Devotion turns into celebration. It’s emotional, loud, and unforgettable.

🔥 Processione del 5 Febbraio (The Grand Finale)

What: The final procession, climbing Via Etnea
Where: Piazza Duomo → Via Etnea → Via Crociferi → back to Duomo
When: February 5, from around 5:00 PM

Why go: This is the peak. Tens of thousands dressed in white. Sweat, faith, shouting, and movement. One massive human river flowing through the city.
